RoAnne grew up in Manti, Utah with two teachers as parents. She studied English Literature and History at Snow College and Southern Utah University, earning a Bachelor degree in English Literature with a minor in History.
For ten years, RoAnne taught English, American History and Life Skills for the Youth in Custody program in Provo School District. She left this post to homeschool her three children for several years, learning valuable lessons about meeting the needs of individual learning styles. She returned to classroom teaching in the new world of online education, working for Utah Virtual Academy as an English Interventionist. She is very excited to be working for Athenian Academy this year and can't wait to get to know all the high school students and share her passion for writing and literature with them.
RoAnne has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember. She loves helping students gain a love for learning and develop into life-long learners. She also enjoys sharing her love for language and a good story. For her, nothing is better than seeing the minds of her students excited by a new concept or a new way of looking at the world. Most of all, though, she loves the opportunity to get to know, understand and interact with her students.
When she isn't teaching, RoAnne loves to read, write short stories, and work on her novel. She also plays the piano and loves listening to music (and dancing when no one is watching). She loves cooking, watching movies (especially thrillers), playing board games with her children, and working with her church's food and clothing ministry.
